David Connor

a bloke whose time has almost gone

This web site is purely self-indulgence and I've got no idea how you found it.

I had a few years left over on my hosting service and started fiddling around.

You may find some things amusing and that's the best you can hope for.

5 STARS REVIEW

On 6th July 2025 around midday I received a phone call from a stranger. He left a message. Apparently he was on the beach where I lived. So some stranger had my phone number and was near-by. I felt violated and helpless.

I wanted to know how he got my phone number and so I put a few things together from the message and had a look on Google Maps. There was my name next to my house with my address and my PRIVATE PHONE NUMBER. I hadn't put it there. I hadn't put anything there. I hadn't put anything there.

I clicked on my stolen identity's 'listing'. There was a picture of my house, a link to the web site you're on now ... with a 5 star review. I am proud to reproduce it ...

"Probably the most satisfying website on the whole of the internet at this current moment. Well played David Conner."

I've withheld the reviewer's name because it would be extremely rude of me to divulge it without his permission. I know he's a man, I've seen his picture, if indeed it is his picture, if indeed he is a man.

Yes I know it doesn't add up ... but so much doesn't these days.

Sittin' on the front porch on a summer afternoon,
In a straightback chair on two legs, leans against the wall,
Watch the dog a' playin' with June bugs on a string,
And chase the glowin' fireflies when evenin' shadows fall.

We do not usually worry much about the oblivion that preceded our birth, so why should we worry about the equivalent oblivion that will follow our death?

Oblivion isn’t the experience of absence, it is the absence of experience, as the novelist Julian Barnes put it in his meditation on mortality. There is “nothing to be frightened of”.

THOUGHTS

I was thinking and it disrupted my day ...

MUSIC

My mother managed to get me to take piano lessons by insisting that I didn't have to, and so, by my own free will, I chose to submit myself to six years of discipline just to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything.

Now the world can judge how worthwhile it really was. Thank you Mum.

SCOUT

She's named Killarah Rosa on the registration, but we call her Scout, named after the little girl in 'To Kill A Mockingbird'.

There're some videos and photos of a very cute dog being energetic.

QUOTES

Here is one.

"He's about as welcome as a jobby in a swimming pool."

Here is another one.
